Additional comments:
This was our second whaleshark encounter of the day. We were cruising around the east side of Utila island on a liveaboard in an area where whalesharks are frequently sited in the spring. We were in deep water-greater than 200 feet. We saw a boil on the surface and swam over. This whaleshark was vertical in the water when we approached and seemed to be sieving the surface water.
